People and Running

Monday and Tuesday:

Did the usual morning routine of classes. However, running has got considerably easier and i flew through my run on Tuesday(felt really fast). Afterwards both days worked on hw for the rest of the afternoon(well tried too i have become good at procrastinating(it is a Spanish thing), so thats why it took me so long)'. Tuesday night talked with a few friends from back home which was nice.

Wednesday:
Went for a run in the rain today, legit cold rain, which i haven't done for awhile it felt awesome and again i was feeling pretty fast. That night we met up with the Spanish kids; however, none showed up. I ended up talking to my friend for about an hour and watching the Spain v. France soccer game(probably why the spaniards didn't show up). She left for dinner before me, but i stayed to watch the end of the half at the very end of the half Spain scored a goal(Gol!) making it 2-0. I was definately rooting for Spain not only because I am here, but also because I really don't like France or the French. Anyways I watched the rest of the game back home 2-0 ended up being the final score.

Thursday:
Usual start to the day run was good, it was actually sunny today so I took my time and went to some of the more scenic parts of Cáceres. Got invited to an ERASMUS get together that night by the Czech girls(most of the Iowa group went to Rome or London this weekend, so not many of us were left). Anyways went to that saw just about everyone i know in the program as well as met some British and North Carolina girls(we spoke English which was a welcome break, but the British girls had accents so it kind of counted as a foreign language).

Friday
Didn't do much during the day my runs had wore me out, so I took a break to be on the safe side(plus it was raining hard again :( {that means sad, it is a frowning face emoticon}). However, that night one of our guides, Rakel, her father was playing flamenco at a hotel in the city. Most of us that were there went to it. There we watched this young guy play flamenco on the guitar(their hands move crazy fast i don't know how they do it) later he was joined by Rakel's father and a singer. Was torrentially raining when we left, an omen of the weather for the whole weekend.

Saturday:
Went to the city track today to see how fast i really was. Unfortunately Spain decided that a strong cold wind was a good idea(it was freezing). Whatever, a mental toughness challenge. Anyways I ran a 5:50 mile, easily could have done 5:30-5:40 in better weather. Later that afternoon I went to a movie with the Austrian girls. It is called Celda 211, it was nominated for lots of the Spanish equivalent to the Oscars called Goyas. It was a pretty violent prison film interesting, but the girls didn't like it much and i thought it was ok. By the way this was part of a film fextival going on this week and next week in Cáceres, so we saw a late 2009 movie(fairly new) for only 3E about $5. Will probably go to another one next week. That night I met up with a couple of the Iowa girls to celebrate one of the 20th birthday of one of them, it was a good time.

Sunday:

Didn't do much today, but one thing worth noting lunch. Ok came in saw something that looked like chicken poked it, ummm definately not chicken. Asked our mom what it was: it was squid. I like seafood in general but this was really strange. It was straight up cooked not cut at all(about 5-6 inches long) with the eggs inside it. It was really good, but it was so strange that me and Tim kept poking at it and Manoli thought we didn't like it. Also we had mussels on the half shell and some really good candy things, I was stuffed.

Anyways Mom, nathan, and jeremy are coming up next week for those of you who don't know, so my next post will be later, so ask them how their trip was first.
